What

9th Annual Patriots’ Path Council Liberty Science Center (LSC) Camp-In. The camp-in is a unique opportunity to explore LSC after hours. You will have time to discover over 250 exhibits on the Invention, Health and Environment floors, as well as participate in science demonstrations. The 3-D Laser Show and current IMAX Presentation are also included for all camp-in participants. A highlight of the evening is the camp-in educational program introduced at the Welcome Show. All scouts receive a patch and a free exhibits only pass good throughout 2002.

Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos Scouts with a parent/guardian may attend. All parents/guardians must be at least 21 years of age. LSC policy requires that campers be chaperoned at all times. A one on one policy exists. The cooperation and support of all parents is vital for a successful camp-in.

What to Bring

bulletIdentification – All campers must wear name tags provided by the Pack which includes the individual’s name, Pack number and coordinator’s name.
bulletSleeping Gear – Each participant should bring an indoor sleeping bag. You may want to bring a foam pad as you will be sleeping on the hard floors. Due to space restrictions, air mattresses are not permitted.
bulletClothing – The camp-in involves walking so please dress in comfortable shoes and clothing. No changing of clothes allowed! Shower facilities are not available. Since the temperature can fluctuate, we suggest dressing in layers.
bulletToiletries – A minimum of toiletries is needed; a toothbrush, toothpaste and washcloth. Please, no hair dryers, curling irons, radios/walkmans, hand-held game machines, candy or gum.
bulletMoney – There are vending machines available in addition to the provided snack. However, campers need to bring change. LSC staff does not carry money. The Store, LSC’s science-to-go gift shop, will be open at various times; therefore, campers may want to bring some extra money for souvenirs.
bulletPlease pack all of your belongs in a large plastic bag. This bag should be large enough to accommodate a coat when necessary. Label all belongings with your name and Pack 166.
 

Meals

LSC provides all camp-in participants with a snack and continental breakfast. Dinner is not provided. We suggest campers eat dinner before their arrival so they may have as much free time to explore the museum as possible. Please contact the camp-in office if you have special dietary needs.

Departure

The camp-in program is officially over at 10:00 a.m. the following morning. All campers must return their gear to their car by 8:30 a.m. The museum opens to the public at 9:30 a.m. You are welcome to stay as late as you wish on Sunday.

Security

LSC meets all local emergency and fire requirements consistent with procedures of any public institution. LSC is equipped with smoke detectors and sprinkler systems, as well as illuminated emergency stairwells. All camp-in staff are trained in emergency building procedures and there are 24-hour security guards at every camp-in.

LSC policies

bulletCampers must be chaperoned at all times.
bulletCampers are not allowed to leave the building for any reason except in the case of an emergency.
bulletLSC is a smoke free building.
bulletNo food, drink, candy, or gum is allowed in the exhibit areas.
bulletAlcohol and drugs are not permitted at any time during a camp-in.
bulletCampers are responsible for cleaning up their own campsite areas.
bulletLSC is not responsible for lost or stolen items
 

Directions

Follow Interstate 78 East to the New Jersey Turnpike. Then take Exit 14B on The New Jersey Turnpike. Follow signs to the Liberty Science Center.
